- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 3/4 cups whole milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 box vanilla wafer cookies (about 11 ounces)
- 4–5 ripe bananas, sliced
- Whipped cream or meringue for topping

In a saucepan whisk sugar, flour, and salt. Whisk in egg yolks and milk until smooth.
